RETRO CLASSICS® 2022: Jeep® and Alfa Romeo

During this year's RETRO CLASSICS (21 to 24 April) BRUNOLD AUTOMOBILE will present two great and very emotional marques, i.e. Jeep® and Alfa Romeo, in the Past and Present Atrium.

Jeep's historic models here will include the Jeep CJ-5 from 1974, a Jeep CJ-7 from 1986 and a Jeep Wrangler (TJ) from 2006. These three vehicles will systematically show the development of the now definitely most iconic off-road vehicle, the Jeep Wrangler.

In addition to the historic Jeep models, visitors will also be able to obtain information on the latest models ranging from the small Jeep Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrid through to the new Jeep Grand Cherokee

In line with the topic of "Italy" Brunold Automobile will present, for example, a beautifully restored Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider 1600 from 1964. The classic cars will be supplemented by the models of Alfa Romeo, for example the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and the Alfa Romeo Giulia.

One special highlight will be the presentation of the new Alfa Romeo Tonale:

The new Alfa Romeo Tonale – the symbol of the change in the marque

The first compact SUV from Alfa Romeo heralds the start of a metamorphosis for the marque, which is being radically developed and entering a new era of connectivity and electrification.

As a hybrid vehicle, the new Alfa Romeo Tonale SPECIALE has a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine developing 96 kW (130 hp). The special model combines all the entire sportiness and technology of Alfa Romeo.

The standard equipment includes 20" alloy wheels, red-painted brake callipers from Brembo®, adaptive Matrix full LED headlights, privacy glass in the rear compartment, aluminium rocker switches, a keyless entry system and the electrically operated tailgate with an easy loading function. The standard entertainment and navigation system features a 10.25" touch screen (26-centimetre screen diagonal) and voice control, and enables smartphones to be easily connected without cables thanks to Apple CarPlay and Android AutoTM [1]. The standard equipment also includes a wireless loading pad, a leather-covered sports steering wheel, an adaptive cruise control system, light/rain sensors, a reversing camera and traffic sign recognition.

The Alfa Romeo Tonale is the first car to feature NFT technology

The new Alfa Romeo Tonale is the world's first car to be equipped with "Non-Fungible Token" (NFT) technology. This term denotes a forgery-proof, digital certificate. Alfa Romeo is the first car manufacturer to offer a series vehicle with a NFT. This technology is based on the block chain concept which invariably records the most important stages in the vehicle's life. This unique feature emphasises Alfa Romeo's innovation strategy. With the permission of the owner, the NFT records important vehicle data and produces a certificate which can be used, for example, as proof of proper maintenance of the vehicle. This documentation will, for example, have a positive effect on the residual value of the vehicle. On the used car market NFT certification represents an additional safety factor on which vendors or dealers and purchasers can rely.

Connectivity and software solutions to improve the driving experience

Alfa Romeo is using software solutions and connectivity to improve the driving experience which is always the focal point. The new Alfa Romeo Tonale is equipped with the most advanced technology to ensure a networked and comfortable driving experience. The driving pleasure typical of an Alfa Romeo is still retained.

The new Alfa Romeo Tonale has an innovative infotainment system as a standard feature. Over-the-air updates (OTA) are possible with an adaptable operating system (Android) and 4G connectivity. Content, functions and services are therefore always up to date.

The infotainment system has a 12.3" screen and a 10.25" touch screen (31.2 and 26.0 centimetre screen diagonal respectively) with a multi-tasking user interface. Drivers therefore have full control of all functions without having to take their eyes off the road. With a total size of 22.5" (57.2 cm), the two full TFT screens in the new Alfa Romeo Tonale are among the largest in the segment.

The technology in the new Alfa Romeo Tonale is geared towards safety and comfort: Level 2 autonomous driving is possible thanks to advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The systems intervene without impairing the driving experience. The driver always has full control of the car.

Highly modern electrification – entirely in line with the DNA of Alfa Romeo

The new Alfa Romeo Tonale signifies the entry of the marque into the world of electrification. Alfa Romeo is following its own paradigm here: electrification must support the marque and its DNA in order to reinvent sportiness for the 21st century. The new Alfa Romeo Tonale represents a clear commitment to a future which is geared towards sustainable mobility while also remaining faithful to the marque's basic values.

The launch edition of the Alfa Romeo Tonale SPECIALE features a hybrid drive which is coupled to an automatic seven-speed, double clutch gearbox. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine develops 96 kW (130 hp). It is combined with a 48 volt electric engine which generates 15 kW (corresponds to 20 hp) and a torque of 55 Nm. The new Alfa Romeo Tonale can therefore also be driven fully electrically.

Four equipment variants

When it is launched on the market, the new Alfa Romeo Tonale will have a new equipment strategy. A total of four equipment variants are available. The SUPER variant marks the entry into the unique experience of the Alfa Romeo Tonale. Anyone wanting a highly elegant and luxurious car will choose the Tonale TI.

The SPRINT variant on the other hand primarily focuses on a sporty design. The most sporty variant is the Tonale VELOCE which offers even more power and sportiness. In line with the simplification and streamlining of the product range, the pricing of the new Alfa Romeo Tonale also offers customers a simple, transparent and linear strategy.
